Rail Stop Gastropub is a bar-restaurant located in Virginia serving a selection of craft beers, wines and spirits.
This gastropub also comes with a slightly upmarket menu which included rustic home cooked food such as house-made sausage, seafood, steaks, gourmet burgers etc.
Brand Strategy
The client wanted to see a train of some sort in the design. That is all we had to go with. So we decided to take a deeper look at the client’s philosophy behind their food and menu. We also took a closer look at the type of patronage that the client receives and from that we derived a series of story points. By tying them all together we came up with some iconic train designs that were based on vintage rail styles.
We also created a visual language for the client to support their passion for spices, which is a secondary aspect of their business. We hand drew some spices and used them as part of the branding and package design to create a very rustic vintage look and feel. The result is a brand that creates a lot of impact and recall with their target audience who love coming to the restaurant not only for their great food and beer but also for the emotional clues that the branding gives them.
