World Cat Show Website Review

By Eva Alsis

Dog shows get all the press, but even the staunchest canine lover will have to admit that cats have natural beauty and grace. A website design dedicated to cat shows should thus have the same qualities. In this case, we are happy to say that it does.

The background is relevant to both the brand and the subject. It is primarily black with a cat’s eyes and the outline of the European continent (this cat show is taking place in Poland). The event name is written in a bold, dominant font that is arranged creatively. All of the web pages use the same background and the same general style. However, the CSS design is just as well-thought-out as this brand. The basic information and recent news are front and center, while the categories at the bottom of the landing page offer a link to more detailed information.

Website Reviewed: World Cat Show

Website URL:

Every detail of this show, which is a rather complicated affair, is handled through this website, from rules to forms to admission fees. This makes it an effective one stop shop for people interested in the event, whether they are vendors or entrants or press. Because the categories are organized intuitively, it is easy to find exactly what you need.

One thing we appreciated about the website is that it is multilingual, but grammatically correct (at least in English, which is not the organizers’ native language). The best CSS web design in the world will not leave a good, professional opinion if your website is otherwise full of glaring errors. However, there were no photos of cats from previous events, a detail that many website visitors may be seeking.

This website is certainly well-connected, with links to Facebook and an RSS feed. They are not just promoting an event, they are creating an event brand. Cat oriented brands are not so common, but this one serves as an example of how sleek and stylish they can be.

Creativity: 5 stars. The event brand is a little dark, but it is creative and avoids fluffy kitty cat clichés. It is not the brand that you would expect for a cat show, but it is certainly sleek and feline.

Ease of use: 5 stars. The website is very easy to use despite the wide range of information it must offer for the large amount of different people involved in the event. This is due to good CSS design and to excellent organization.

Functionality: 5 stars. This website offers links to Facebook, feeds, and every function that a visitor could ask for. It is a comprehensive, well-rounded website for its event brand.

Content: 4 stars. We like the well-written text and acknowledge that this is particularly difficult to achieve when dealing with a multi-lingual website. However, this event practically demands photos, videos, and other types of content. Words just aren’t enough here.

Appropriateness: 5 stars. While the brand is not typical for a pet event, it is nonetheless appropriate and even striking.

Overall: 4.8 out of 5 stars.
