Wine Company Website Review

Have you ever bought a bottle of wine simply because it looked good? Branding is an important part of selling wine. A website is a way of showing this brand to the world, not just to wine lovers perusing the shelf but store buyers, reviewers, and your market at large. Jax Vineyards has a website that uses CSS web design to present an attractive and contemporary wine and vineyard brand.

Website Reviewed: Jax Vine Yards

URL of website: jaxvineyards.com

Designer: Nicholas Macias @ rockinghelvetica.com

The landing page features a bottle of wine against a background. In large letters, the words ‘your food should be so lucky’ begin to introduce an edgy, modern brand. The wine that is shown is explained in detail, and links to tasting notes and specifications are given. A bar at the top offers information about the vineyard and its products along with sections for ‘Story’, ‘Place’, ‘Team’, ‘Near You’ and ‘Follow Us’. When you click on the links, the page in question appears beneath the landing page in a smooth motion.

Not only are links provided allowing visitors to follow the brand in a variety of social media, visitors can also see what other people on these websites are saying about this vineyard and its wines. This creates an ‘insider’s view’ into the vineyard and makes the products seem more attractive. An online order form allows oenophiles to order their favorites immediately. In addition, complete contact information is offered so that people who are interested can get more information.

This website offers well-rounded information about the brand. However, most wine drinkers are equally interested in the product as well.  Only five wines are described in the website and offered for sale, although the vineyard likely offers more than this. Even is a product is not offered for sale, tasting notes and other information can help to build the brand. There is no information on 2010 wines, such as when they will be available. People visiting a corporate website like to feel that they are getting the ‘inside track’, so this information would be both interesting and enriching. However, in all, this is a well-rounded website that offers a solid sense of brand and excellent insight into the Jax Vineyards wines currently for sale.

Creativity: 5 stars. This website is creatively designed with beautiful photography and a more modern brand than many of its competitors.

Ease of use: 5 stars. Good CSS design is used to create a usable and well-organized website with information presented in a logical way.

Functionality: 5 stars. It’s rare that we see a business offer such a complete range of functions. Jax Vineyards offers a variety of ways to follow the brand and a way to buy the products immediately.

Content: 4 stars. The content is grammatically correct and written in a fun, edgy way that compliments the brand immensely. We would like to see more information about other products; it is unlikely (but possible) that this vineyard has created only five wines in the past five years.

Appropriateness: 5 stars. This website is perfect for this brand and its products.

Overall: 4.8 out of 5 stars.
