Sporting Club Website Design

(625)

More and more sporting clubs and organizations are developing athletic websites, and it is easy to see why. A website can be a great place to use as an organizational tool (for important dates and such), as a way of involving fans and the community, and a method of increasing team pride among players. If you use CSS design, you can address all of these needs and wants in a visually attractive package.

The design involves a lizard—the team’s mascot—basking in the sun in front of a futsal net, along with a black foreground where information is given. The fonts are very simple and create a masculine, straightforward brand. In addition to a navigation bar at the top of the page, website guests can access information from the landing page as well, which has the function and organization of a blog.

The website offers a lot of information on the club, which is important for fans, players, and people looking to become either. However, there is very little contact information—simply a few email addresses on the contact page—and no social networking links either.

One of the benefits of CSS website design is that it can be very versatile and allow many interesting features. We would love to see a calendar feature as well as other relevant organizational tools. The blog format is good for sharing information on a day-to-day basis, but it is less efficient for people who simply want to know the next practice date.

Despite a few flaws (and they really are few), this website is a fun way for the futsal club to develop an online presence that will help their organization as it grows. The club is still relatively new, having begun only this year, and is just getting organized in terms of practices, members, and sponsors. It is likely that the website design will become more organized as the club itself becomes more so. It will be fun to return to this website in six months or a year and note the changes that have occurred for both the club and the website.

Creativity: 5 stars. The photo of a lizard in front of a futsal net is both appropriate and priceless. It relates to the mascot and the sport at the same time, making it a great find for the Jesters.

Ease of use: 3 stars. The information is well organized within the navigation bar, but in order to find many details you will have to slog through the blog. This can take a while, unfortunately.

Functionality: 3 stars. One of the first things to do when starting a club or business of any sort is to open social media accounts, even if you only rarely use them. This website does not link to any social networking accounts and is thus missing an invaluable opportunity to connect with their fans.

Content: Not judged due to foreign language.

Appropriateness: 5 stars.

Overall: 4.0 of 5 stars.
