Challenge: Kohsh is a General Merchandise online retailer selling anything imaginable under the sun through their website. Competing with the likes of Wayfair, Hayneedle, ATG Stores, Home Decorators, Target etc, Kohsh plays in a very competitive market place where the image of the company is quite important since it is hard to differentiate the products, offerings or even prices.

Brand Strategy: Although pricing tends to be one of the positioning strategies the client was looking at, they sought the help of Spellbrand to help differentiate their brand identity.When you are dealing with a company that sells general merchandise, the best strategy would be the “customer relationship” based one. You differentiate yourself by becoming memorable and treating the customer better than the competition. In fact, you make the customer the focus of your business rather than the products, the prices, the discounts or the offers.
So using the customer centric strategy as the base, we set about creating an identity that perfectly aligns with the client’s vision and target market.
Brand Solution: The online retailer logo that we came up with encapsulates all the attributes and value of the company. In the middle of the logo mark is an abstract star that represents the “buyer as a star” – emphasising the customer centric belief system of the brand. Surrounding the central customer star are 6 multi-colored shapes to represent the varied nature of products that they sell and also the multi-cultural aspect of the business. The overall shape is reminiscent of a flower in its beauty and elegance.We also created a system of sub brand marks for each business/product category section of the company using different color codes and replacing the central star with an icon of the product category such as furniture, home appliances, power tools etc.
