Modeling Website Review

(639)

We’ll say it right off the bat: we did not choose this website due to the beauty of its subject. However, the model in question deserves some serious props for having a website that is almost as beautiful as she is.

Professionally designed websites are a must for models and generally any type of freelancer. The time for paper is over. While it is good to have a few printed examples of your work, more and more employers are finding their employees on the internet, especially in the freelance world. Because this model is aiming for an audience and body of work beyond her immediate area, her website becomes her introduction.

The model in question is not typically proportioned for high fashion modeling, so she has to work hard to show she is up to the task. Simple fonts and a charcoal gray background create a professional mood that is made appropriate for the beauty industry with feminine touches such as swirling designs in the corner of each page and occasional pops of color. An “over-designed” or cluttered website would detract from the model’s portfolio, so this simple, functional homepage is definitely in order.

In addition, viewers can easily access a variety of pictures of Ania Olejnik as well as social networking, testimonials, and contact information. This site may appear to be ‘all form’, but it has a heavy dose of function as well.

Creativity: 5 stars. We’ve already discussed the website aesthetics, but it should be noted that a lot of creativity went into the design as well. The scrolling bar of pictures is much more accessible than a page of thumbnails.

Ease of use: 5 stars. Again, we see evidence of good design. The navigation bar on the side takes you just about anywhere you want to go. If you hover over a category, subcategories pop up to make every nook and cranny of the site accessible in one click without adding clutter.

Functionality: 4 stars. This website makes it easy to contact both the model and her manager by just about any means. In addition to numerous social networking links on the navigation bar allow viewers to interact further with the model’s brand. Branding is very important to models—crucial, in fact—so these are excellent additions. Our only suggestion would be to include more than first names on the testimonials. After all, anyone can write a batch of these, so a little more information is needed to build credibility.

Content: 3 stars. This is one area where the website falls a little short. The ‘resume’ has almost no professional information and a lot of grammatical errors. On one hand, few people hire a model for her writing skills. On the other hand, it takes away from the professional, streamlined feeling of the overall website.

Appropriateness: 5 stars. As we mentioned before, the website offers an attractive mix of aesthetics and professionalism.

Overall: 4.4 out of 5 stars. This website will be an asset in a competitive business.
