Ali and the Tigerhorse Website

This website intrigued us simply because of the name. What is a tigerhorse? A zebra, perhaps, or a hallucination? Because this website is not written in English, the origins of the name will have to remain a mystery. However, you can easily glean the important information from this website, for instance that Ali and the Tigerhorse is a band or other musical entity, and where you can buy their latest CD.

One of the first things that you notice about this website is that it is well branded. There is a clear mood being portrayed here, along with colors, fonts, original photography, and other visual aspects to shore it up. Further, the photography is made a part of the website itself rather than being a mere addition. The different pages are shown nestled in the rocks, with the singer front and center. She wears or poses somehow with a zebra print in every picture—perhaps we were right about the tigerhorse after all?

Like many modern bands, Ali and the Tigerhorse has a logo design that works well with their music and their brand. This website makes it easy for a potential fan to find out more about the group and also for current fans to keep tabs on Ali and the Tigerhorse in a variety of ways.

Creativity: 5 stars. The photography in this website is quite original and interesting, giving a definite sense of the band’s personality and genre. The way the navigation bar is designed to be part of a photograph is especially interesting and eye catching. Occasional sightings of the color blue stand out against the black, white, and gray background and add a needed touch of color.

Ease of use: 5 stars. The website is organized so that you can easily find out anything that you need to know about Ali and the Tigerhorse easily, with links to important information at the top, the side, and even the bottom of every single page. Interestingly, the headers are in English while the body text is in German, ensuring that many understand bits of the website while virtually no one understands it all.

Functionality: 4 stars. We had to take off a few points for the unusual use of two different languages—it’s better to choose one and stick with it, or if necessary to offer several different single language sites. Sometimes you really can’t have it all! However, the site is well designed and manages to convey the most important information in both languages. In addition, you can easily locate the Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and other web presences of the band, and those icons can be recognized in any language.

Content: Not rated.

Appropriateness: 5 stars. This website’s colors might seem somber if it were not for the interesting photography and occasionally use of the color blue. The mood is cool and fashionable without feeling forced or overdone.

Overall: 4.75 out of 5 stars. The language issue may need addressed, but otherwise a visually interesting and well rounded website!
